Being a half-day person often means good intentions lose out to daily chores
I write far more paperbag stories than I type up
I have said on a good few occasions that thanks to health problems (I have pulmonary fibrosis) I am, for the most part, a ‘half-day person’ and as much as I want to post to paperbagstories and beestondestinations.substack.com, chores and other things have to come first.
I have been working for some weeks now on giving my paperbagstories booklets an update. The first one dates from early-2021 and I have produced over 50 booklets of my stories, all of which can be read in The DoughMother bakery and cafe where I go to write most Wednesday mornings (I have miss the past four weeks because of the weather and health appointments).
You can read all here online of course. Above are the first four of my new look A5 booklets. I am printing them all on 100gsm paper. I was using 80gsm paper with a 160gsm card cover. Now I no longer use a card cover, as the 100gsm paper gives the booklets extra body. This will save me time, because I only have create one file per booklet instead of two (one for the cover, one for the text). Copies of my booklets disappear from The DoughMother occasionally - hence the message I have put on the front page. Ideally I would like to produce new look booklets at the rate of one a day but that is proving very difficult!
Then I have unexpected accidents in our home office, like yesterday when I did this:
I dropped a paper tray all over the floor. I have far more paperbag stories written than I have had the time to type up and post here, let alone turn into a booklet.
There was a plus side to my accident insomuch as I found papers and things I thought I had lost, but I lost yesterday clearing up the mess I made!
This is my priority for 2025.
In the meantime, a belated new year to my readers and thank you for your support, even if I do not acknowledge it with a welcome email. There is a story in draft on substack waiting to be finished. I will try next week. I promise!
Fond regards to you all. Robert🐰
I love that you make actual booklets! Having something tangible to hold brings an extra sense of joy, especially in a time when everything seems to be veering towards digital.
